Asus Brings the Win
My Asus G1 laptop (probably my favorite possession) stopped working about a year after I bought it. Luckily it came with a 2 year warranty. It would boot to the G1 logo and then reboot over and over again. I called Asus and they emailed me an RMA number the same day, plus they let customers use their Fed Ex account so I didn’t have to pay for shipping. I did have to pay for a box and two rolls of bubble wrap which cost almost $30 at Fed Ex/Kinko’s. Yeah, a cardboard box and 2 rolls of plastic bubble wrap, next time I’ll get the packing materials somewhere else.
It turned out that the BIOS just needed to be updated. They also reinstalled Vista which I thought was a little odd. I haven’t made any hardware changes with Vista, but with XP all I had to do was reactivate XP after a hardware change, sometimes it wouldn’t even need to be reactivated. Maybe they were just being thorough. They did call me to get permission before reinstalling. They also glued new rubber feet on the bottom of the laptop, the original ones came off just like they’ve done with every laptop I’ve owned
I had my laptop back a week after sending it.
